Job Summary
Instruct, train, and coach maintenance personnel in all aspects of the job, including the proper maintenance techniques, safety requirements, and plant operations. Performs maintenance, installations, and repairs of equipment and building support systems that are necessary to the operation of the plant and offices at the facility. Provides direct supervision for hourly employees within their department.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations & Troubleshooting - Lead and perform maintenance, repair, installation, fabrication, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and heating systems. Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Coordinate with outside vendors as needed for specialized repairs or servies and maintain strong, professional relationships to ensure reliable support and timely issue resolution.
- Preventative Maintenance - Develop, schedule and maintain preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment. Perform required start-up, shutdown, and inspection procedures to sustain reliability and efficiency.
- Safety & Compliance - Ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations. Administer required safety training and promptly address cited issues.
- Team Leadership & Development - Supervisor, train and coach maintenance staff in best practices, safety, and technical skills. Conduct pefroamnce reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and parter with HR on performance management and disciplinary actions.
- Budget & Inventory Management - Work within the department's budget and plan accordingly to meet operational and maintenance needs. Oversee purchase orders, vendor approvals, and inventory control to ensure availability of parts and materials. Audit and maintain cirtical spares list to ensure plant efficiency.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement - Partner with other departments to align maintenance activities with production goals. Identify process improvement opportunities, engage the team in solutions, and support company-wide quality, efficeiency, and housekeeping intiatives.
- Emergency Response & Customer Support - Respond to equipment and facility emergencies as needed. Ensure internal and external customer expectations are met through timely maintenance support and professional communication.
Work Environment
- Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heaving carts, seasonal high temperature, and humidity levels, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must wear hearing protection).
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
- Potential splash exposure near lines.
- Various chemicals are used in processes.
Education/Qualifications
- A minimum of an associate degree in Electro-Mechanical or another related Mechanical field is preferred, but not necessary.
- Requires broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing acquired through hands-on training.
- Minimum of two years of work-related and leadership experience required.
- Blueprint and schematic knowledge are helpful.
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
- Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- ISO certification experience preferred.
- Must maintain a “Hands-on” style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
